Pat Arnao is a multimedia artist who examines the passage of time, the elusive nature of memory, and the natural tendency of things to expand beyond their boundaries. An up-close witness of the WTC attack and collapse, the event transformed her work. Her paintings contemplate how monumental things fall apart or become forgotten. Pulling a thematic thread through her work, her installation and object work takes on resurrection. As she examines the history of a specific place, she searches out materials which have been cast-off or left behind, and gives them new meaning. Her silent videos investigate passage of time often as if they were moving paintings. Pat Arnao's work takes on what was, what is and what will be, aiming to provoke thought, discussion and a sense of place.
